This pathway was intended for physicians who held a recognized Board other than Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Medicine or Radiology and had substantial cardiac CT experience and was open in 2008, 2009 and 2010. No new Applicants were accepted after 2010.
Candidates Unsuccessful on the Examination
Alternate Pathway Applicants who were not successful on the examination in 2008, 2009 or 2010 can retake the examination three (3) times within a seven- (7)- year period under this closed pathway. Once seven years from the date of original examination passes, eligibility expires and you are no longer able to sit under this closed pathway.
To re-apply for the examination the following requirements must met and documentation verifying each must be submitted with the application:
- Cardiac CT Training: The preceptor letter submitted with your original application will be accepted. This letter was signed by two (2) physicians attesting to: 1) interpretation of 600 cardiac CT exams as primary operator, with 450 of them being live cases; and 2) currently working in clinical medicine; and 3) two (2) years full-time work experience in cardiac CT; and
- Maintenance of Competency in Cardiac CT: Interpretation of a minimum 50 contrast cardiac CT cases in the 12 months prior to date of application for the CBCCT examination; and
- 20 hours of Category 1 CME in CT in general and/or cardiac CT in particular in the 36 months prior to the date of application for the CBCCT examination.
